In our series Community Threads, we bring together the creative individuals who make up our TOAST shop teams and explore the ways in which they thoughtfully style pieces from our new collections.

In this instalment, we visit our Kilver Court shop in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Occupying a former textile mill, this location is home to our latest collections, alongside archive pieces from previous seasons. TOAST joins a thoughtful selection of brands in the historic building, all overlooking expansive 19th-century gardens with a rockery, rose garden, and the Charleton railway viaduct.

Tiffany

Tiffany joined TOAST last summer. Her favourite local haunt is Chalice Well in Glastonbury, a holy well surrounded by a scenic garden. “You can drink the iron-rich spring water, but I love to collect it to take home and use in my natural paint inks.” She is currently nurturing this skill with help from Make Ink: A Forager’s Guide to Natural Inkmaking by Jason Logan. “This book curates simple recipes to make ink from things that we can easily forage for here in Somerset.”

Tiffany is 5’4 and wears a UK 10. She has chosen the Pantry Stripe Cotton Wrap Dress and Pantry Stripe Cotton Wrap Shirt. “I was drawn to the print and the colours. It can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, and I like that the pieces work together or individually in different outfits.”

Jules

Jules has been working at TOAST for over five years. He spends his free time drawing, sewing, gardening, and listening to music – his current favourite song is Pothole in the Sky by Lisa O'Neill. Jules frequently travels to Bath, just a thirty-minute drive away. “I like to visit the magazine shop Magalleria and Botanica Studio, a plant nursery, in Bath. Closer to home, I enjoy walking around the woodlands at Stourhead when I need some headspace.”

Jules is 6’3 and wears a size M-L. He has styled the Hickory Stripe Denim Chore Jacket, Railroad Stripe Cotton Shirt and Bill Cotton Canvas Wide Leg Trousers. “This outfit feels really versatile; all of the individual pieces are so wearable. The jacket nods to traditional workwear styles, but the stripe and pockets add a real sense of modernity.”

Andrea

Working in our TOAST Kilver Court shop for four years, Andrea is grateful to have easy access to Somerset’s natural offerings. “I’m an amateur birder and enjoy going to look for starlings on the Somerset levels. The murmurations are one of nature's wonders – I never tire of watching them.”

Andrea is 5’7 and wears a UK 10-12. She is photographed here in the Indigo Cotton Twill Jumpsuit. “It has a very effortless, easy shape and it's lovely to be able to put something on and go rather than thinking of a full outfit. I love the rich blue colour and how soft the fabric is.”

George

A TOAST team member for the past three years, George enjoys meeting friends for food at The Old Pharmacy in Bruton, and oftens travels to Bath to peruse the monthly flea market. She is currently reading The Artist by Lucy Steeds. “Set in sun-drenched Provence, it’s a story of love and intrigue and art – it’s proving a gentle tonic during these cold winter months.”

Georgina is 5’4 and wears a UK 10. Here, she styles the Linen Silk Wrap Shirt and Railroad Stripe Pleated Cotton Skirt. “I love the voluminous sleeves on the top, and the fabric feels soft and luxurious. The skirt has adjustable buttons so it can sit higher or lower on the waist, making it very comfortable and easy to wear.”
