Rosalind Wyatt

Rosalind Wyatt has experimented with stitching and textiles for over 20 years. Having trained in Western Calligraphy and Textiles at The Royal College of Art, London, she creates work informed by language, philosophy and textile provenance. Based in Putney, southwest London, Rosalind uses her needle as a writing tool. Each individual hand stitch forms letters and word sequences in thread, with the final garments and cloth works presenting an intimate, personal narrative.

As part of London Craft Week, Rosalind will be hosting a workshop exploring our seasonal concept of Rewilding. Under her guidance, visitors will be invited to create their own unique piece to contribute to a communal mixed media collage, exploring poetry, words, texture, colour and pattern inspired by the natural world around them.

Each contribution, whether it be made from paper or remnant fabric, stitched, painted or drawn, will become part of the final work, which will be exhibited at the end of London Craft Week. TOAST is providing waste yarns, pieces of recycled fabric and paper from their production to be reused in the collage. Rosalind’s recent body of work exploring collage, calligraphy and cloth, will be on display for the duration of the week.

I hope for you to find this natural simplicity and wonder in a shared creative space, Rosalind says. It’s a time to come together to set aside stress and all preconditions, then see what is possible by engaging with our natural human gifts. She sees the workshop as a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and looks forward to welcoming everyone to be creative alongside her. “I cannot think of a lovelier venue than TOAST Mayfair to be my studio for a week!”

From Mon 4 October to Fri 8 October drop in to our Mayfair shop to create your own unique piece for the mixed media collage during London Craft Week. Visit our events page for more details.
