It features multiple draped layers for a sculptural impression. The top layer is adjustable and constructed from deconstructed striped shirts, with the stripes moving in different directions. It is accompanied by a separate net underlayer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e“I wanted to create an historical, almost antique feeling but reinterpret it in a contemporary way,” says Bethany. “The inspiration comes from family photographs of my great-grandmother, alongside archival imagery from my research into Manx heritage. I have been interested in taking these historical shapes and allowing them to become something new. I draped the shape on the stand and Alex constructed it, before I hand stitched elements into place. Underneath is a separate skirt made from netting brought through the TOAST Circle Programme, creating another layer beneath the striped skirt.
